Historic Village of Earlston
Only 31 miles south of Edinburgh, Earlston is on the A68, the oldest road link between Scotland and England
The village is surrounded by many places of interest, not least the dramatic Scott's View, Mellerstain House and Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott. But while the list of historic attractions includes imposing castles, abbeys, stately mansions and ruins, Earlston's appeal has more to do with the advantages of living in a stunningly beautiful rural location while still being within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh and the other larger Border towns.
